Can You 'Afford' To Pay Attention
Greatorex Street Gallery

This show was a pivotal point in my year as I was chosen by a curator to exhibit in her show after she came to the "Where We're Calling From" exhibition to see my work, and fellow MA student from Painting.
This experience was a bit different than the previous shows as I did, as it began from a studio visit with the curator and I did not have any resources of feedback from faculty and technicians of which I have built a relationship with thus far. I was standing on my own. I was able to portray my expectations for my work to the technician that was hanging my work, and built a relationship with the curator and fellow exhibiting artists. We intend to come back together for another show in London when the curator has an upcoming opportunity, so I feel I made a good impression with my work ethic and the skills I have been able to use during this show.
Additionally, this show was exhibited in complete darkness, as to follow with the science behind Neuro-Aesthetics and how artwork is perceived when people are encouraged or almost forced to slow down and view it in a way that allows the finer details, textures, and themes to present themselves before someone walks away.

'Ascertain' Exhibition
Espacio Gallery
The 'Ascertain' exhibition was an open call through LumiNoir Art in July, where I exhibited my Charcoal drawing from the Summer Show, as well as the work that I created during the week through a residency opportunity that I highlight in the next section. Additionally, I was lucky to be able to assist in the install and curation of this show, getting to learn and become more comfortable with the behind-the-scenes portion of exhibitions. I really enjoyed getting more advice on how to properly hang work, even though the process used at this space is a bit different than most places with a ceiling-based hanging system as no nails or screws are meant to be put in the wall. I feel I got the hang of it with a few needed pointers. I found watching and listening to the curatorial decisions interesting and very helpful to better understand why certain work communicates with other pieces, and how positioning them can create or disrupt space.
This was only the second time I had framed my work for exhibition purposes and now am able to better match the frame style to the work thanks to feedback from this show.

'Ascertain' Residency
Espacio Gallery
In the application for the 'Ascertain' Exhibition, I applied to participate in the residency available during the weeklong show. I proposed to finish at minimum 6, human-sized rubbings of the architectural space of Espacio Gallery where LumiNoir Art would be hiring space. This was the first opportunity to use the architecture of the space since I did the rubbings that were selected from C132 for the "Can you Afford To 'Pay' Attention" Show at Greatorex Street Gallery in June. Throughout the week, I spent opening hours each day working in the gallery, chatting with visitors, getting advice, and invigilating the space. While I worked, I time-lapsed some of the rubbings for future reference and documentation. Although the floors were freshly refinished before our exhibition, I enjoyed getting to reveal the textures from outside the gallery, the main floor, and the lower floor of the gallery, to create a journey through the space. As I was finishing the drawings, I left them in their place or origin for a while before removing and storing them. This lead to viewers walking around or overtop of them and sparked a few questions around if it was work also being exhibited in the same show, which I found interesting, as I wonder what would happen if I said no. The best part about these works occurred when we had the Private View and individuals had leaned in extremely close to them to see if they could find anything hiding within them, and the most popularly pointed out section had been where a hair laid on the floor before I rubbed the surface and it came out very clear.

In-Between
Peckham Levels
In-Between was a group show curated and curated by Júlia Mazzoni at Peckham Levels. We had originally applied to an open-call of which included funding and did not make the cut, however when the organizers had seen the show we proposed they gave us a alternative slot during summer 2024. This group consisted solely of MA drawing 23/24 students and was the first opportunity to work together without the input from faculty or technicians. Our group was split amongst two shows at the same time, as it was the same week as the Ascertain Exhibition above, so I was not able to be present for the installation of the show, however it went well and our PV had good turn out.
This was the first show for our group under the Drawing24 concept of an artist collective, and I believe it has encouraged us to continue working with one another beyond the course at UAL, and gave us a chance to be a little more loose with our practice during a heavily academic and research based time with our main practices.
The work I exhibited in this show was unrelated to my main practice in the MA Drawing course, and was a duo of ink pen drawings of gothic cathedrals the research trip I assisted with in June 2024.

Affordable Art Fair
Evolution Battersea
I was a participant at this seasons Affordable Art Fair Battersea, and was represented by the Art9 Gallery, from South Korea. I showed 'Carbon Study' from the summer show as well as 6 other charcoal drawings from 2023. This was my first selling based exhibition, and found it quite different than the perspective of a showing based exhibition, but found it a good opportunity to network, find out more about galleries all over the world, and to get feedback from the selling team about how my work is bering perceived by the average public, art-based individuals or not.

Open Studio Pop-Up Event
The Studio Pop-Up event was welcoming opportunity for the Unit I cohort of the MA Fine Art Drawing 2024/25 year where we curated our own one-room show with work that has been a result of our research throughout the course. I chose to exhibit '2511' and 'Series: 2525'. I absolutely loved this experience as it was a time crunch, and we had many site-specific challenges like space, furniture, windows and hanging restrictions, however I found the chaos invigorating and we got along great as a team to get it all done in two days including the removal of our belongings from two studios and hosting a social where plenty of great conversation was had between unit I and Unit III students. This was the final event before our Unit III hand-in and I am extremely glad the group took it on.
